Chef Kev coming through with a favorite American-Chinese flavor…orange chicken sauce..but this time got some of chicken wings tossed in that popular sweet and sour orange sauce. Yesssssuuuuh!!!
What you'll need:
Chicken Seasoning
Smoked paprika
Kinder’s The Blend : Salt Pepper & Garlic Seasoning
Kinder’s Butcher’s All Purpose Seasoning
Orange Chicken Sauce
1 cup orange juice
½ cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon pure orange extract
½ cup vinegar
¼ cup Mike’s Hot Honey
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon orange peel/zest
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Oil for frying
First, heat oil in deep fryer/frying pan.
To season chicken, add smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and garlic blend, and all-purpose seasoning; blend well. Place chicken in deep fryer/frying pan, cooking for about 15 minutes; until the pieces are crispy and brown. I double fried mine to get them extra crispy but this depends on how crispy you like your chicken. Remove from oil and set aside.
For the sauce: in a wok or large skillet, add orange juice, soy sauce, ground ginger, orange extract, vinegar, hot honey, red pepper flakes, and orange zest; whisk well. Then, in a small bowl or measuring cup mix water and cornstarch to make a slurry; pour slowly into wok/skillet, frequently whisking until desired thickness is reached.
Add chicken wings to sauce in wok/skillet, toss in sauce. And that’s it! Plate ‘em up, sprinkle on some sesame seeds if you like, and enjoy!
